This play is being developed by Net Curtains Theatre for the Theatre Royal Margate as part of its dreamland project.

Bry grew up working in Dreamland - his whole life had evolved around it. He is charismatic and a big noise in Margate. But in 1991, having been laid off, he sells his last few possessions to his mates, leaving his lover Maggie and young mate Georgie for bigger and better things.

Years go by and Bry has all but disappeared from the face of the earth. Georgie has made it big in business and Margate, having suffered for years, is on the brink of major change and development. And Maggie - now in a sterile relationship with Georgie - has struggled to keep her life together.

And then a story begins circulating that a man has been seen living rough in and around the old dreamland site, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Bry. But if it is Bry, what does he want, and what has brought him back to Margate? Could Maggie forgive him for deserting her, and how will Georgie react?

End of the Line is a modern allegory about the dangers of selling off the very thing which defines you. It will ask questions about the importance of cultural and social history in the context of regeneration and the overriding need to balance the books.

Anton Chekhov

"I tell you honestly, in all conscience, these men were born in my head not by accident, not out of sea foam, or preconceived "intellectual" ideas.  They are the result of observing and studying life.  They stand in my brain, and I feel that I have not falsified the truth or exaggerated it a jot."
